Objectives
• Promote water safety, rescue and resuscitation education
• Train more swimmers’ to become lifesavers
• Reduce the number of drowning accident

Lifesaving 1 Award
Aim: To provide preliminary skills and knowledge of water safety, and land-based non-contact rescues.

Lifesaving 2 Award
Aim: To develop further preliminary skills and knowledge of water safety, resuscitation, land-based and non-contact rescues.

Lifesaving 3 Award
Aim: To develop skills and knowledge of water safety, resuscitaion, and water rescue preparatory to the Bronze Medallion.

Resuscitation (CPR)
Aim: To provide practical experience in the lifesaving techniques of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and related emergency.

Bronze Medallion Award (BM)
Aim: To establish a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatic rescue situations.

Bronze Cross (BC)
Aim: To develop lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions.

Senior Resuscitation (SNR)
Aim: To provide further practical experience in the lifesaving techniques of CPR and related emergency care.

Award of Merit (AM)
Aim: To establish a higher level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in aquatic rescue situations.

Silver Cross (SC)
Aim: To develop advanced lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions.

Distinction Award (DA)
Aim: To establish an advanced standard of all round knowledge, skills, and ability in aquatic rescue situations.

Instructor (INS)
Aim: To develop a level of lifesaving knowledge and teaching ability which is suitable for instruction of classes in general lifesaving techniques for Lifesaving1,2,3 and selected items in Bronze Medallion and higher awards.

Teacher (TC)
Aim: To develop a higher level of competence in the teaching and organization of lifesaving programs at school or club level.
